The nearby town of Machias has some of the best Downeast Maine restaurants and shops. The entrance to the town takes you over the vigorous falls for which the town is historically famous for. Spend a fun-filled day window-shopping and going to the park, or stop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner at any one of their fine restaurants. Be sure to get some lobster and finish off your meal with a slice of fresh blueberry pie!
Not only is it good for sunsets, but the view across the bay also allows a clear view of migratory birds during the day and aurora borealis (northern lights) and shooting stars at night.	You'll find beauty in nature everywhere you look, especially down the stairs on the shores of Holmes Bay.

Nearby Campobello Island is the home of former President Roosevelt's summer cottage, and a beautiful historical landmark.	The natural beauty of Downeast Maine's coastline is unbelievable. The Bold Coast walkways, only minutes from Woodland Pointe, offer nearly 10 miles of hiking and bike trails along the breathtaking coastline.
